By the ToolFluency team · Updated October 2026
Free online jigsaw puzzles with real knob-and-hole pieces. Pick a scene from six themes (autumn, winter holidays, animals, cozy places, nature and travel, fantasy) or do the daily puzzle, which is the same picture for everyone each day, and choose from 12 to 300 pieces. Pieces snap into place and join together as you build, and your progress is saved, so you can stop and come back later.
How to do a jigsaw online
- Choose the Daily puzzle, or pick a theme and a picture. Choose how many pieces: 12 or 24 for children and quick breaks, 48 to 96 for a relaxed puzzle, 150 or 300 for a long one.
- The pieces are scattered around the board. A faint ghost of the picture sits on the board to help; turn it off for a harder puzzle.
- Drag a piece onto the board. When it is close to its spot it snaps in and locks.
- Pieces that fit together snap to each other wherever you join them, and then move as one group.
- Start with the edges: Edges only hides the inner pieces so you can build the frame first.
- Press Peek to see the whole picture for a moment, or Scatter to spread the loose pieces out again.
- When the last piece is in, you see your time and your best time for that size. On a phone, loose pieces wait in a tray below the board.

Tips for faster puzzles
- Build the border first with Edges only: the straight edges are the easiest pieces to find.
- Sort by colour: drag all the sky pieces to one side, all the grass to another.
- Work on small groups away from the board; they snap together anywhere and you can drop the whole group in at once.
- Look for pieces with something distinctive on them, such as a face, a sign or a bright flower, and place those first.
- Turn the ghost picture off once you are comfortable: it is good practice and makes a 48-piece puzzle feel new.
Frequently asked questions

Is my puzzle saved if I close the page?

Where do the pictures come from?
They are illustrations made for ToolFluency's puzzles: busy, colourful scenes with detail in every corner so every piece has something to match.
