Cookie Policy.
We keep our cookie use minimal. Here's exactly what we set and why.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. We use both cookies and browser localStorage to provide a functional, personalised experience.
2. Essential Cookies
These cookies are required for the platform to function and cannot be disabled.
- Firebase Auth Token — Set when you sign in. Expires after your session or 30 days if you choose "stay signed in". Required to authenticate your account.
- tf_theme_mode — Stores your dark/light theme preference. No personal data.
3. Analytics Cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (which pages are visited, session duration). These cookies do not contain personal identifiers and are anonymised before processing. You can opt out at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- _ga — Google Analytics client ID. Expires after 2 years.
- _ga_* — Google Analytics session state. Expires after 2 years.
4. localStorage Keys
The following keys are written to your browser's localStorage by ToolFluency tools. They never leave your device.
- tf_theme_mode — Dark or light theme preference.
- tf_tier — Your current plan tier (free, plus, basic, suite). Used client-side to show/hide features.
- tf_recent_tools — List of recently used tool IDs for the "Recent" section on the dashboard.
- tf_toolbox_usage — Tracks which tools have been used to surface personalised suggestions.
- tf_debt_strategy — Saved strategy selection in the Debt Payoff tool (avalanche vs snowball).
- tf_hidden_suites — Which product suites you've chosen to hide from your dashboard.
All localStorage data is stored exclusively on your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for toolfluency.com.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies (Firebase auth) will prevent you from signing into your account. Disabling analytics cookies has no impact on your use of the platform.
Major browsers: Chrome — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies. Firefox — Preferences → Privacy & Security. Safari — Preferences → Privacy.
