What is ToolFluency?
ToolFluency is a solo-built platform with 323+ free browser tools, full Business and Business Pro suites for small businesses in Canada and the US, Personal finance tools, Games, a Kids Zone, and 3D Assets. Everything in one place, with no installs required.
Does ToolFluency use AI?
Short answer: I use AI tools to help me write the code faster — same as a carpenter using a nail gun. No tool currently calls an AI service; there's no chatbot or AI tutor in the product. When AI-assisted features do get added, they'll be off by default, clearly labeled, and opt-in per kid. Your family's data isn't sold or used to train models. Full policy at How ToolFluency is made.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed to use any of the 323+ free tools. Accounts are only required for paid plans (Personal Plus, Family, Business, and Business Pro) where your data syncs to the cloud.
How do I sign up?
Click "Try Free" in the navigation bar. You can sign up with your email or continue with Google. No credit card is required to start.
What devices does ToolFluency work on?
ToolFluency is fully responsive and works on any modern browser — desktop, tablet, or mobile. No app download required.

Are the free tools really free?
Yes, 100% free with no hidden catches. No account, no email, no payment. The 323+ tools will always be free.
Where is my data stored?
All free tool calculations happen entirely in your browser. No data is ever sent to our servers. Your inputs stay on your device only.
Can I use the tools offline?
Once a tool page has loaded, most calculations work fully offline. Some tools that fetch live data (e.g. currency converter) require an internet connection for up-to-date rates.
Business Suite
What's included in the Business Suite?
The Suite includes invoicing, estimates, expense tracking, bill management, client management, mileage tracking, GST/HST reporting, and (on the Suite plan) employee management, timesheets, payroll, and job tracking.
How does the free trial work? What counts as an action?
Setup is unlimited and free from day one. Add as many clients, expenses, employees, vehicles, jobs, projects, inventory items, and catalog entries as you want — none of that touches your trial. Estimates, contracts, proposals, and receipts are also unlimited so you can win work without burning your trial on sales pipeline. The trial is auto-granted on sign-up (no credit card, nothing to click) and only counts revenue-realization moments — the things that mean you're actually earning: sending an invoice, committing a payroll run, generating a tax/HST or P&L report, or sending an employee invite. Business plans get 10 of these on us, Business Pro gets 15. When you run out, you'll see an upgrade prompt at the moment you try to send/run/generate. If you don't subscribe, your account quietly drops to the free tier with all your setup data intact.
Does it handle payroll?
Yes — for both Canada and the US. Canadian payroll calculates CPP, EI, and federal/provincial income tax; US payroll calculates FICA (Social Security & Medicare), FUTA, and federal/state withholding. Pay stubs are exportable to PDF.
Can I import existing data?
Yes. You can import clients and expense records via CSV. Invoice and pay stub history can be migrated via our import wizard found in account settings.
Personal Tools
What's free vs Personal Plus?
All personal finance calculators are free forever. Personal Plus ($5/mo CAD, ~$4/mo on annual billing) adds cloud sync across devices, document storage, photo albums, and an ad-free experience.
How does cloud sync work?
When you sign in with a Plus account, your data is encrypted and synced to Firestore. Changes on one device appear instantly on all others. You can disable sync at any time from settings.
Can I export my data?
Yes. From account settings, you can export all your personal data as a ZIP file containing CSV and JSON files. This works whether you're on the free or Plus plan.
Billing
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Account Settings → Billing → Cancel Plan. Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period. No cancellation fees.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. Email hello@toolfluency.com within 30 days of your first charge for a full refund.
How do I change my plan?
Go to Account Settings → Billing → Change Plan. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. Proration is applied automatically.
