Play Tic-Tac-Toe free online with colorful markers. Challenge the computer or a friend. Simple strategy game perfect for kids ages 4-8. No ads, no sign-up required.

How to use

  1. Pick a mode — solo against the computer (Easy or Medium AI) or pass-and-play with a friend on the same screen. Recommended for ages 4-8 (preschool through Grade 3).
  2. Tap any of the nine squares on the 3x3 grid to place your X (Player 1) or O (Player 2). The game shows whose turn it is so younger kids don't lose track.
  3. The first player to line up three of their marks in a row — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal — wins the round and the win counter ticks up.
  4. If every square is filled with no three-in-a-row, the round ends in a draw. Tap New Game to clear the board and play again instantly.
  5. Strategy hint for kids: take the center square first — it's part of four winning lines, more than any corner or edge. With perfect play, the center-first opener guarantees at least a draw.
  6. Tic-tac-toe builds early spatial reasoning, turn-taking, and pattern recognition — Piaget-era research links it to pre-algebra readiness in 4-7 year olds. Most rounds finish in under a minute, perfect for waiting rooms or bedtime wind-down.
  7. Privacy-safe by design: no sign-up, no ads, no data collection — COPPA-friendly. Once the page loads, the game runs offline, so it works on airplane mode or spotty Wi-Fi.
