Final QC & Customer Handoff: the full procedure

A final inspection in good light and a walk-around with the customer — catch any miss before they do, and finish on a strong impression.

What you need

The procedure, step by step

  1. Inspect in good light — Walk the finished vehicle in bright/natural light against a QC checklist: paint and glass for streaks/missed spots, interior surfaces and crevices, wheels/tires, and overall finish.
  2. Fix before the customer sees it — Correct anything below standard now — a missed smudge or streak — so the first impression is flawless.
  3. Walk around with the customer — Show the customer the finished work, point out what was done, and let them inspect while you’re still able to address anything.
  4. Note protection care — Where coatings/protection were applied, tell the customer the cure/no-wash window so they don’t undo it.
  5. Hand off and invite back — Confirm satisfaction, hand over keys, and invite them to rebook/refer — turning a good detail into repeat business.

Quality check before you finish

This is a free, source-anchored standard operating procedure (SOP) you can print and hand to staff. It documents the work sequence for a Auto Detailing business — not safety or regulatory rulings, which defer to the cited authorities, the applicable code, and your own health-and-safety plan. Open the tool above to print it, toggle ink-saver, or (with a free ToolFluency Business account) edit it to match your own workflow.

  3. Click Print SOP to print or save as PDF. Print one per crew, laminate it for the binder, or attach it to the job in your scheduling system.
  4. Train new hires on it and have staff sign off. Found something out of date? Use the feedback link — flagged SOPs are re-researched against the source list.
