Cleanup & Customer Demo: the full procedure

Leave the site cleaner than you found it, walk the customer through the work, and capture documentation and feedback.

What you need

The procedure, step by step

  1. Recover all fluids and parts — Collect used oil, coolant, and other fluids into the correct labeled, sealed containers; never mix used oil with solvents or antifreeze.
  2. Clean the work area — Pick up tools, absorb any spots, and remove all debris so the driveway/lot is left clean.
  3. Stow waste for proper disposal — Transport recovered fluids and old parts per EPA/RCRA and the safety plan to your licensed disposal/recycling point — never down a drain.
  4. Walk the customer through it — Show the completed work, the retained old parts, and explain what was done and why.
  5. Cover warranty and care — State the warranty terms and any break-in or follow-up care the OEM specifies.
  6. Deliver documentation — Provide the itemized invoice/receipt listing parts, labor, and fluids, and the warranty record.
  7. Capture after-state — Take after photos of the clean work area and completed repair for the job record.
  8. Request feedback — Confirm satisfaction and send the review/feedback request.

Quality check before you finish

This is a free, source-anchored standard operating procedure (SOP) you can print and hand to staff. It documents the work sequence for a Mobile Mechanic business — not safety or regulatory rulings, which defer to the cited authorities, the applicable code, and your own health-and-safety plan. Open the tool above to print it, toggle ink-saver, or (with a free ToolFluency Business account) edit it to match your own workflow.

About Free Cleanup & Customer Demo SOP

Free printable SOP for mobile mechanic job closeout: recover fluids per EPA rules, clean the site, demo the work, and deliver an itemized invoice.

How to use

  1. Read the full procedure top to bottom before the work — the SOP runs in order and each step builds on the last.
  2. Toggle Ink-saver (black & white) for a cheaper mono print for the binder; leave it off for the full-color version.
  3. Click Print SOP to print or save as PDF. Print one per crew, laminate it for the binder, or attach it to the job in your scheduling system.
  4. Train new hires on it and have staff sign off. Found something out of date? Use the feedback link — flagged SOPs are re-researched against the source list.

Frequently asked questions

How should used oil and coolant be handled at the customer’s site?
Collect them in separate, labeled, sealed containers and transport to a licensed recycler. EPA used-oil rules prohibit mixing used oil with solvents or antifreeze, and dumping fluids down a drain or onto the ground is illegal — disposal defers to EPA/RCRA and your safety plan.
Why give the customer the old parts and a walkthrough?
It builds trust and satisfies state repair-law requirements that customers can receive their replaced parts. The walkthrough also confirms satisfaction and is the right moment to deliver the itemized invoice and state the warranty terms.
