Running a gym that members trust and staff can operate
A gym sells two things members can feel instantly: cleanliness and competence. Wiped-down equipment, a front desk that checks people in smoothly, a clear plan when someone gets hurt — these are what keep memberships from churning. None of it is hard, but all of it has to happen every shift, which means it has to be written down.
The Gym & Fitness manual covers the 14 procedures a facility runs on: opening and closing the floor, equipment cleaning and sanitizing, new-member onboarding and orientation, class setup and turnover, locker-room and restroom checks, incident and injury response, and end-of-day facility walk. It is the operating backbone that lets a small team run a clean, safe club.
What's inside each operating manual
Each SOP is a one-page printable — scope, steps in order, a quality check, and cited sources — built to laminate and post at the station where the work happens.
How to use these SOPs
These are working documents, not wall art. Read the procedure top to bottom before the work, print one per person (toggle ink-saver for a cheap black-and-white copy for the binder), and have new hires sign off once they can run it unsupervised. Found something out of date? Use the feedback link on any SOP — flagged procedures are re-researched against their source list.
