The procedure, step by step
- Remove all old material and packaging — Collect the old door, hardware, and all packaging for disposal or recycling per your business policy and the quoted disposal line.
- Sweep for fasteners and debris — Run a magnetic sweeper and broom across the work area and driveway to collect screws, nails, and metal shavings that could puncture a tire or injure someone.
- Wipe down the new door and hardware — Remove fingerprints, labels, and dust from the door, tracks, and opener so the finished job looks professional.
- Demonstrate normal operation — Cycle the door with the wall button and remote, and show the customer the smooth open/close they are paying for.
- Show the safety features — Demonstrate the auto-reverse and photo-eye per the verified test results, and show the customer how to test them monthly per the manufacturer's instructions.
- Teach the manual release — Show the customer how to use the manual release safely per the manufacturer's instructions, including reconnecting it - never demonstrating spring or cable handling.
- Hand over documents and warranty — Provide the owner's manual, warranty information, and your business card, and explain how to book future service.
