Final Walkthrough & Customer Sign-Off: the full procedure

Walk the finished work with the customer, confirm satisfaction, and capture sign-off and after photos.

What you need

The procedure, step by step

  1. Invite the customer to walk — Ask the customer to walk the completed surfaces with you so they see results firsthand.
  2. Compare to before — Show before-and-after where helpful and point out improvements on the surfaces that were in scope.
  3. Inspect every surface — Check each surface for missed spots, streaks, or residue and address anything minor on the spot.
  4. Set expectations on limits — Explain anything that could not be fully removed (oxidation, permanent stains, prior damage) referencing the before photos.
  5. Capture after photos — Photograph the finished surfaces for the job record and marketing, matching the angles of the before photos.
  6. Confirm satisfaction — Ask the customer directly whether they are satisfied and resolve any concerns before leaving.
  7. Obtain sign-off — Get the customer's written or digital sign-off confirming the work is complete and accepted.
  8. Hand off next steps — Explain invoicing/payment and the re-wash warranty window, then thank them and ask for a review.

Quality check before you finish

This is a free, source-anchored standard operating procedure (SOP) you can print and hand to staff. It documents the work sequence for a Pressure Washing business — not safety or regulatory rulings, which defer to the cited authorities, the applicable code, and your own health-and-safety plan. Open the tool above to print it, toggle ink-saver, or (with a free ToolFluency Business account) edit it to match your own workflow.

How to use

  1. Read the full procedure top to bottom before the work — the SOP runs in order and each step builds on the last.
  2. Toggle Ink-saver (black & white) for a cheaper mono print for the binder; leave it off for the full-color version.
  3. Click Print SOP to print or save as PDF. Print one per crew, laminate it for the binder, or attach it to the job in your scheduling system.
  4. Train new hires on it and have staff sign off. Found something out of date? Use the feedback link — flagged SOPs are re-researched against the source list.

Frequently asked questions

Why get a sign-off at the end of the job?
A documented sign-off confirms the customer accepted the work as complete and reduces later disputes. Pair it with after photos that match your before angles for a complete job record.
What if the customer points out a missed spot?
Address minor misses on the spot during the walkthrough. If a concern surfaces after you leave, it routes to the callbacks and re-wash warranty SOP within the warranty window.
