Lay out anchor bolts off the centre lines, a bolt circle or a hexagon, and print a true-scale, full-size template with a check bar to mark the holes. Free.
How to use
- Set the bolt diameter in the toolbar, such as 5/8" or 16 mm. The canvas starts with the vertical and horizontal centre lines and the Bolt tool on.
- Add guide lines off the centre with Vertical guide and Horizontal guide, and type each distance. Turn on Mirror to place each guide on both sides of the centre line.
- Click where the guide lines cross to place the bolts. For round patterns, use Bolt circle (type the number of bolts and the circle diameter) or Hexagon.
- Check the layout. Click any dimension to type an exact distance, drag a bolt to move it, and use Measure to check any two points. Ctrl+Z undoes.
- Choose Print. Pick the paper or let it choose, then print at 100% (Actual size) and measure the check bar before you mark the holes.
- To keep it with your drawings, choose Add to plan sheet and pick a plan set. The layout goes on a sheet as a dimensioned drawing in Plan Sheets.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make sure the template prints full size?
Print at 100% (Actual size), never Fit to page. Every page has a check bar of a known length (4 inches or 100 mm); measure it with a tape before you use the template. The PDF is set to print without scaling, and a template larger than the paper tiles across pages with overlap and join marks.
How do I lay out the bolts?
Bolts sit on the crossings of guide lines measured from the centre. Use Vertical guide and Horizontal guide, type the distance, and place bolts where the lines cross. Mirror places each one on both sides of the centre at once. For round patterns use Bolt circle (type the count and diameter) or Hexagon. Click any dimension to type an exact distance.
Can I use inches or millimetres?
Yes. Pick the unit on the canvas; distances and the bolt diameter can be typed in either, such as 5 1/2" or 140 mm, and the printed dimensions follow the unit you picked.
Can I put the layout on my drawings?
Yes. Add to plan sheet puts the layout on a sheet in a Plan Sheets set (a new set, a new sheet, or an existing one) as a dimensioned drawing. On the sheet, Edit drawing brings it back here, and Update drawing puts the change back on the sheet.
Is the template checked for structural adequacy?
No. It lays out and prints the positions you give it. Bolt size, embedment, edge distance and spacing come from the manufacturer, the drawings or the engineer.
