About Concrete Structure Designer
A 48" x 48" x 12" footing is 0.593 yd³ and a 24" x 24" pier 8 ft tall on it is 1.185 yd³. The starting design also has a 12" round pier, for 2.02 yd³ in total, or 2.12 yd³ to order with 5% waste.

Sketch footings, pads, piers and walls in plan, stack them by height, lay out anchor bolts, and get the concrete takeoff, a 3D model, a plan sheet and a DXF. Free.
How to use
- Pick a starting point from Start from (pier on footing, round pier, wall on footing, pad) or draw your own. Use Rectangle, Circle or Shape in the toolbar and drag on the plan. Lengths can be typed as 4', 12'-6" or 1200 mm.
- Draw the bottom piece first, such as a footing. Anything you draw inside it sits on top of it automatically, so a pier drawn on a footing starts at the top of the footing.
- Select a part to edit it in the Selected panel: name, type, exact size, position, rotation, height and what it sits on. The footing bottom elevation sets the levels for everything above it.
- Turn on anchor bolts for a pier or wall top. Choose a grid or bolt circle, the bolt size, spacing, embedment and projection. Bolts are drawn on the plan, in 3D and on the sheet.
- Read the takeoff: concrete for each part and in total with waste, bags if you are mixing by hand, form area, form tubes for round piers and the anchor bolt, nut and washer count.
- Open the 3D tab to check the stack at true scale, and the Plan sheet tab to print or download an 11 x 17 sheet with the plan, a section, the bolt schedule and quantities.
- Export a DXF with real coordinates and elevations. Pick which layers to send (Concrete + bolts leaves the labels out) and drop it into your CAD drawing.
Frequently asked questions
How much concrete is in a 4 x 4 ft footing with a 2 x 2 ft pier?
A 48" x 48" x 12" footing is 0.593 yd³ and a 24" x 24" pier 8 ft tall on it is 1.185 yd³. The starting design also has a 12" round pier, for 2.02 yd³ in total, or 2.12 yd³ to order with 5% waste. Change any size and the takeoff updates.
How do I put a pier or wall on top of a footing?
Draw the footing first, then draw the pier or wall inside it. The new part sits on the footing it was drawn on, so its bottom is the footing top. You can also change what a part sits on in the Selected panel. Moving a footing moves everything on it.
Can it lay out anchor bolts?
Yes. Turn on anchor bolts for any part and choose a rectangular grid or a bolt circle. Set the bolt size, spacing or bolt circle diameter, embedment and projection, and an offset if the pattern is not centred. The bolt schedule lists every bolt and the buy list rounds bolt length up to stock sizes.
What is in the DXF export?
Each part is drawn on its own layer (footings, pads, piers, walls, slabs) at its real top and bottom elevation, and the anchor bolts are drawn as circles with a cross at the bolt centre. Units are inches, or millimetres in metric. Choose Concrete + bolts to leave the labels out, then insert it into an existing drawing and move it to your known coordinates.
Does it work in metric?
Yes. Switch Units to metric in Settings. Sizes show in millimetres and metres, concrete in cubic metres, the snap grid in millimetres, and the DXF is written in millimetres.
Is this an engineered design?
No. It works out the geometry, levels and quantities for the sizes you enter and draws a layout sheet. Footing size, reinforcement and anchor bolt capacity must come from your drawings or an engineer.
