About Geometry Explorer

Free geometry explorer for kids — learn angles, area, perimeter, and symmetry with interactive shapes. Visual math learning for ages 5-10. No ads, no sign-up required.

How to use

  1. Pick an age band on the right sidebar: Ages 4-6 (basic shape ID), 6-8 (counting sides and corners), 8-10 (shape attributes and angles), or 10+ (advanced classification like quadrilaterals).
  2. Read the prompt — for example 'How many sides does a hexagon have?' or 'Which shape has 4 equal sides?' — and pick the answer from the grid below.
  3. Each shape is drawn as a clean SVG with consistent color coding. Kids can study it visually before answering, which supports the van Hiele Level 1 (visualization) → Level 2 (analysis) progression in geometric thinking.
  4. Ages 4-6 questions cover circle, square, triangle, rectangle (the four core 2D shapes in Common Core K.G.A.2). Older bands add pentagon, hexagon, octagon, star, diamond, and oval.
  5. Get instant feedback: green border for correct, red for wrong with the right shape highlighted. Each round is 10 questions and ends with a 1-3 star result based on accuracy.
  6. Use the info popup after answering to see the shape's properties (sides, corners, vertices) — this builds the academic vocabulary tested in Common Core 2.G.A.1 and the BC K-7 numeracy framework's geometry strand.
  7. Parent tip: pair this with a household shape-hunt — find a hexagon (stop sign), pentagon (home plate), octagon (umbrella). Real-world recognition cements the digital practice.
