About Free Printable Memory Match Game

Free printable memory / matching game generator. Pick a theme — animals, numbers, letters, shapes, or your own words — and the number of pairs, then print, cut, and play the classic flip-and-match game. Full color or ink-saver black & white. No signup.

How to use

  1. Pick a theme. Picture sets (animals, sea creatures, food, vehicles, space, sports, faces, nature, shapes & colours), Numbers or Letters for early-learning practice, or Custom to type your own words, spelling list, or math facts.
  2. Choose the number of pairs (6 to 18) and a card size — Small (1.5"), Medium (1.75") or Large (2"). Cards are locked to size, so more pairs just spill onto extra pages.
  3. Set print style (full colour or ink-saver) and optionally turn on Add backs page. When backs are on, pick a back accent colour — amber, teal, or purple — and the generator prints a second sheet of branded card backs in that colour for double-sided printing.
  4. Click Print Game. Cut along the dashed lines (cards share borders so you only need straight cuts through each row and column), mix the cards up, and lay them face-down to play.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play the memory matching game?
Cut the cards out and lay them all face-down in a grid. On your turn, flip two cards: a match is kept (and you go again), a miss is flipped back and play passes on. Find all the pairs; most pairs wins. It also works solo — clear the board in the fewest flips.
How many pairs should I print?
6 pairs for toddlers and preschoolers, 8–12 for kindergarten through Grade 2, 15–18 for older kids and adults. Card size is fixed so more pairs simply add more pages — the cards stay easy to handle.
Can I make a memory game with my own words?
Yes — pick Custom — your words and type a comma- or line-separated list. Each entry becomes a matching pair, ready to print and cut. Great for turning a weekly spelling or vocabulary list into a game.
How do I stop people seeing through the cards?
Print on card stock, or turn on Add backs page to print branded backs (with your chosen accent colour) on the reverse side. On plain paper, gluing the sheet to a cereal box before cutting also works well.
Why are the cards connected with shared dashed lines?
The grid prints with shared cut-lines (no gaps between cards) so separating them is just straight cuts down the rows and across the columns — about seven cuts for a 4×4 sheet, instead of cutting around each card.
